Cool, another finished Skyhawk. I'm starting to really like it here. Although I already did like it here, finished Skyhawks make it really comfortable for me, lol.

Good job, David.

Thanks Rex, i started moddeling as a child with navy jets: Back then, Revell released Flight of the Intruder Kits and i really started to love the gull grey/white scheme. How come you like Skyhawks so much? 🙂

I started modeling Navy aircraft in 1965, when I was 8, it was the F4U that I use as my avatar. Then when I grew up, I joined the Marines. Skyhawks were the aircraft I worked on the most, with Phantoms and earliest US Harriers in the mix. And in my collection's theme, the fact that 1/72 Skyhawks are so affordable is what let my collection idea happen in the first place. If not for them, the thing would be so expensive that I couldn't have started it. In the 200 models my theme requires, 50+ will be Skyhawks.

The airfix kit is amazing, you will have alot of fun with it. Details are great and the fit is really good.

I have two areas on it that I intend to change, both are fairly easy to do. I'll cut off the rudders and I'll chop off the nose for more accurate pieces. But, if I am using rudder decals that have to fit the specific Airfix shape, I will leave that alone on those models. A lot of these Airfix kits are going to be A-4C or A-4L, so that means I have to change the nose anyway.

I also want to finish the A-4B to A-4E conversion that I started with an Airfix kit as the base kit.

It would deserve a better lighting for its pics. 😉

I believe there is a Scalemates thread from a guy that built an A-4C, without a conversion kit. He cut the nose off, inserted plastic stock, and smoothed everything down and faired it in. He did a really good job of making an A-4C from this kit. He didn't do anything about the rudder, so he didn't wind up with very much extra work.

As for the E, I have a ton of "left over" noses from all the years turning E kits into B or C before the Fujimi kit came out. I kept them (don't know why), and now they can serve as conversions for Airfix B into E. (at least until the Trumpeter/Hobby Boss kits come out)

@Ulf Petersen: Thank you! So far i didn´t pay much attention to photographs, since my models didn´t turn out picture worthy. I´ll work on that in the future!😉 @Rex: Still alot of work, really can´t wait to see your results on here soon. 🙂
