Excellent switch board ..micro painting with a brush that has less diameter than a human hair? Sounds like hours...and hours ..and hours?

Looking good Augie. I bought 2 SU-27s and 2 SU-30MKs, I am chomping at the bit to build one, but I think I will have to do the MH-53 first. For future reference, if you are interested Dream Models make a beautiful Photo etch detail set for those kits. They are aviabale from Lucky Models.

Thanks Don,
So base coat is on, anice Vellejo AV72334 Flanker light blue, goes on like a dream.. once its cooked off will give it a light buff with 5000 grit to take any bemishes and brushmarks out then move on to the grey.
I'm painting in early style scheme for reference.

Looking good Aug's. I have started the MH-53E project, have spent the last 2 days just filling ejector pin marks. Have never seen so many in my life.

why? To be honest, I had the same issues a while back, and now, I'm getting fond of it, but it has a learning curve, but it took me a while and a lot of testing before I felt confident enough.... Ok preparation and cleaning takes longer than the actual airbrushing, but in the end... It's a golden tool... even when only used to apply the base colors... Brushpainting is still done by me, but mainly details, wheels, etc...

cleaning takes no more than 5 minutes and a couple of rounds in my cheap ultra sonic cleaner after that....having said that not all AB's are the same in the cleaning department.....

Lol thanks Kerry, i'll probably need it, the paint is ok, but brush paints a little interesting with it.
The paint scheme is interesting my next challenge is how to tone them down as every picture I have seen they almost blend into one.

Do you still need to seal it with a varnish before decals? If so, you can precolor it, just add a few drops of blue to it as a first blend, then maybe some foto-filters...

I was nice and didnt point out your cheating with the AB.😉 For me, I have never been able to manage a decent finish with a brush on large areas. I used rattle cans when I was a kid, and moved up to air brushes. But you always manage to make them look good!

Thanks Martin, this one seems very popular.
Clifford, the pit was a resin one which the seller had added to the kit for me. I think it was the neo one

Hello Augie! I just returned from an extended "vacation" in the hinterlands. So I thought I would check-in and see what all my Mates are up to. Wow! Nice work on the Su27. Just beautiful! I hope to see it on one of the tables at an IPMS national show or other high level model show and eventually in a display case at Duxford or other museum. Just stunning work! R/ Dutch
