Album info
I was invited to participate in an exhibit of Midway aircraft at the USS Hornet Museum in Alameda, California. Other modelers called dibs on Wildcats, Dauntlesses, Zeros, Kates, and Vals, so I volunteered to build a TBD.
Even then, I had to settle for Waldron's aircraft, as Gay's was already commited. I was looking forward to doing Gay's aircraft, since my father worked with him at TWA.
The Airfix kit needed some detailing, but I was surprised to find its basic shapes are very accurate. Unfortunately, I never got a chance to make good photographs of the finished product (deadlines!) so I've posted the few thumbnails that were sent to me.
