Double S-curvature of the intakes (vertical and lateral) is faithfully reproduced along with the turbine blades. I have only filled the front - visible part of the seam.

Lower part of the intakes serves also as the main landing gear wells. While nicely detailed, only little will be seen through small apertures. Unfortunately due to the design of the wheel well doors (most are closed and open only during the transition), m

Although a complex multi-part breakdown of the rear fuselage, the fit is rather good but one mustn't hurry and should check the dryfit before applying any glue.

Upper piece of the intakes attached which also serves as top fuselage and wings support. Although not given an option, one can open up auxiliary intakes and pose the aircraft as with running engines with a little bit of scratchbuilding. Pilot figures are

Lower part of the fuselage. Some seam needing clean up but just a few sweeps with sanding stick will solve those. Biggest problem is the exhaust area which is quite tiny and there are three seams to clean up inside of it.

Full length intakes with fan clearly visible in the depths.

I HATE IT WHEN THIS HAPPENS! I was gonna use Microdesign photo-etch set for this model and luckily checked the parts. PE parts are too big to fit!!!

Rear IP is as bad as front. Seat belts are also too wide.

After a long while, some progress after almost shelving the kit.

A couple of K-36L-3,5Ya 0-0 ejection seats, heavily benefiting from using photoetched parts

Thanks, guys! Cuajete, it might be strange, but when you start building it, it makes perfect sense. You can actually start with the cockpit as well, but the most work lies in the back fuselage.

I'll grab a seat too... very interested in this kit, or maybe the Kitty Hawk one in 1/48, but then I'll wait for a build review...

Bummer with the PE, will you use it as a guide to scratch the pieces?

Following...seems to be a nice kit in terms of detail. I took some walkaround shots of the Yak-130 in Farnboro last year.

Bart - I ordered Eduard PE set as a replacement and will try to scratchbuilt some smaller stuff
Burkhard D - very nice! I first saw it at MAKS airshow near Moscow a few years ago, I don't think a trainer aircraft has ever impressed me so much.

Nice start, clean work so far. Got two Yaks in my stash too so I´ll keep watching your progress.

Indeed, Adam! I'm putting a coat of primer tonight, followed by camo tomorrow if all goes according to plans 🙂

thanks, guys! Ronan, I've used Mr.Paint paints. They recently released a set for new camo as seen on Su-35S, Yak-130 and some other aircraft, but only 2 of 3 colours are somewhat correct so I used Blue from Su-33, Light Blue from Su-27/33 and Blue of Su-35S.

Thanks, guys! Bart, I've seen a couple of photos of Kubinka based Yaks, which were carrying this white mottled drop tanks instead of classic white or grey ones and I thought it would add visual interest to the model.
