No one ever said KC didn't respond to a challenge! Strewth Kez, that radial looks unbelievable! Got those exhaust pipes centred spot on too. Very nice start. Mind if I take up a little room on your left?

This was started two years ago.
I have completed it except for the painting and decals.
So what I will be posting are the things I did to give it more realism.

A Nice big one. Great work as usual. I'm in👍
I thought Zoukeimura where high quality, high price kits that didn't have so many seam lines...

Mhmm gonna finish the spad?

Augie. After pulling it down from the shelf. I see that the bulk of the outer corrections have been done but just need smoothing off. 👍
Still a ton of work to be done and finicky painting of small but significant parts to entertain me for a while yet, but nothing major to be concerned about or any delays.
I will snap images of the final phases of assembly just for those who just may have one in their stash. 👍 😉

I have been wanting an AF version since I did the Navy toilet bomber. This one peaked my interest, but after finding out how ZM screwed up the Phantoms, I am wary of paying that kind of money for their stuff.

Clifford, I think I have finally shown that I am not actually a 'Red Kangaroo". hahahahaha
I was fortunate to be the recipient of some wonderful Zoukimura kits after the President of ZM posted my build of the 1/32 Ho-229 wood grain on his blog, never thinking that some one would actually depict the 229 as it possibly appeared during it's experimental phase of construction, and as a 'thank you' for creating a sales explosion of the 229 kit, I was sent a number of the 1/32 kits as a gift. the Skyraider being one of them, and the other was the Uhu night fighter. 🙂
Apparently, my build of the Ho-229 wood grain is now rated as one of the all time classics of the kit. Something I am really proud of. 🙂 Here is the link to the 'old man's blog' at ZM. zoukeimura.co.jp/en/..t/oyajiblog_062.html

you got a certainly well deserved praise Kezza. and some nice presents i would say 🙂 when are we going to see them all built? 🙂

I have built the 'UHU', but the cammo paint job was a humungus flop. 🙁 I have two 229's and this beast, the Skyraider. I am tempted to get a second UHU, but I am saving to go to Europe and it will have to wait.

nice changes and interesting what you do with the needles. What do you use to make these at length?
16 January 2019, 14:46
Kerry COX
Bart. I just used a vernier caliper to get the exact length before I made the ;cut', allowing for how deep I needed to drill for the needle to fit, then compared the first to the kit strut and when I had it exact, I glued. It all worked out well.

so you stuck in the whole needle? Thought you'd have to clip the needles to at some point. Tried this to, but is was really devastating on my cutting pliers.

Vernier calliper is een schuifmaat. Do you use a saw to make the cut, or something else.

Watching this one.

I cut the needles with side cutters. To the length required, then glued them in place.
Have you looked at the images. ?

instead of a piece of metal glued to plastic, for those struts, would have not been easier and stronger to use only metal? solid needle inside to injection needle of the right diameter (or other metal tube appropriate). just an idea....
true, you have some details in the middle of the assembly, but you could have either replicate them or simply cut them and add them to the assembly.

What I have done is perfect for my needs.
I didn't do this in a half baked way.
I made sure all scales were answered and strengths were appropriate.
It's done.
Cheers.
