North American A-36
The right console is completly reworked according to a picture of the manual. Neither the Accurate nor the ART parts are correct
First paint and chipping is done
Washings are done, ready to assemble
Radios painted and chipped
For the dashboard I used the kit part with drilled out gauges and the film of the ART kit but not the PE dashboard; The rudder pedals are PE
For the seat I used parts of the kit and the ART set but not the PE seat
Flaps and gun compartment of the left wing are cut out, the resin part fits perfectly into the cut out but its installation needs a lot of grinding the wing material thinner as well as dry fitting
Air brake cut outs at the lower wing. PE parts installed yet
The reworked upper parts of the flaps
The lower part of the engine cover; the front part is from the ART set
The upper cover; I used the kit part together with some PE parts from the ART set
Motor wall with engine mount beams integrated. It needs a lot of sanding and dry fitting
Cowling of the ART kit and lower engine cover from the Accurate Kit assembled. The beams that carry the engine were to short and had to be extended
Inside of the engine compartment and covers painted zinc chromate
Engine compartment ready for engine installation
Engine, upper engine cover and scratch built air intake elbow mounted
Landing lights made of aluminum foil and cristal clear. This will be covered by transparent styrene
painted propeller and spinner. Below this color layer it is painted aluminum and has a hair spray layer
The propeller afer the first weathering step
Underside pre-shaded with dark grey
Underside painted with x-tra enamels, fi
Upper side painted x-tra olive drab and faded olive drab
Yellow stripes painted ...
upper side reworked with Tamiya olive to get some color variations
Paint job done at the upper side
... and weathered
Yellow stripes at the under side...
... with some weathering
Interrior of the gun bay installed with scratch build dive brake actuating lever
next steps: Installation of canopy, wheel well doors, weathering, ...
Lower surface...
... after first weathering
Upper surface after appliance of the decals
First weathering is done at the upper surface
Lower side after weathering

I will use the ART set partially. This means the air brakes, the left wing gun installation, the engine, some parts inside the cockpit . But I will not leave the engine completly without cover.

Hallo Christian, deine A-36 habe ich ja ganz übersehen. Sie schaut sehr gut aus und die Medaille ist redlich verdient. Die Alterung ist dir hervorragend gelungen. Sehen wir uns in Ried?

Congrats mate! The competition must've been hard with only a bronze for this gem of a build...

@ Urban: Some times it is not easy to understand the decission of the jury but over the years I learned to accept it. It stays a Hobby. The best Hobby of the world.
