I wonder, what is gained by stripping the chrome off the sprue? Better detailing and surface quality?

When cutting off the chrome parts，there will always be some sprue marks and it's very difficult to fix. Some people choose to wash the chrome away and repaint on it.
But I did this just to practise my painting skill. It's my first time to use Gaia metal colors.
