Started this Sturmbock flown by Oblt. Hans Weik of 10.(Sturm)/JG 3 in June 1944. Found a photo of this plane (White 1) online. Interestingly Eduard's FW 190A-8/R2 kit has markings for White 7 of the same W. Nr. 680747. I'm not sure if the it's the same plane with the number repainted or actually a different plane. According to someone who actually interviewed Hans, he was supposed to fly White 1 since he was the Staffel CO, but chose to fly White 7 often instead since the leaders were targets for enemy fighters. I'd be interested if anyone here has any additional details. He recorded 36 victories, including 22 four-engined bombers.
Using Mission Models paints and trying Alclad Klears for the first time. So far so good. Office complete. The color difference between the paint and the photo etched panels really pops in photos, but not so much to the naked eye. I'm looking forward to tackling the all black cowling.

Build complete. Only issue was I cracked the windscreen trying to flex it to fit the fuselage. Grabbed a spare from another kit.
Not a fan of the Alclad Klear Gloss. As others have experienced, it remains tacky for a while (days) after applying. It's not really a problem from a finish standpoint but I don't like it when handling. I switched back to Mission Models Clear for the rest of the build.
Priming and RLM 76 down.

Completed painting and decals. During decals found out that I glued the starboard 30mm cannon cover on the wing in the wrong location. Minor repair job using a spare from another kit. Weathering next.
