Rough Riders of the Wasteland or "How did we get into this mess?"
New tools ...
... endless possibilities
And still seems like endless work to do. What would mean endless fun !
My wife really has the most crazy ideas and I'm still crazy enough to try to realize them.
Nice set of decals. I wonder which ones will land on the helicopter.
Well me too ... me too!
Well me too ... me too!
Hey who did the damage?
Must have been this fellow!
and those two might also make the dio
Always nice to have kids with Lego in the house!
And I never ever needed that much putty for just one little smallscale kit.
Since my return to the hobby it is the most spooky and the lousiest kit I built. But what shall I say: "Challenge accepted!" Another question that pops up in my mind is: What do they make so many details on the surface when you grind them all away because of all the putty you need?
Nothing directly to do with this album but as the fanboy I am the next project after this dio is already laid out in front of me.
Welcome to the flat tyre society!
It slowly takes shape
Just a little test
See the little fellow?
But now ain't ya?
Sadly I spilled my almost new decalsoft and there wasn't enough left. Now I have a really soft carpet ;D
I really should have done it vice versa. Paint in aluminium and the chippings nato olive. You're always smarter afterwards! In reality it looks much better. Pictures just can't capture it.
Finally it is done
Better get somewhere quiet
Riders with their own chaplain!
The guy in the back on the left side must have been caught in his pajama or he maybe is already riddled with bulletholes or maybe even both? Maybe we should vote on the whole matter? 😉
The guy with the binoculars had originally a moustache. That was some fearsome piece of cutting.
You see the salamander?
And what about the bumblebee?
Oh my what happened to her foot?
Guess who's gotten here?
Spoiler alert: "look at the colors of his shorts"

If you look very closely you can see the hanging dial in the pilots cockpit
Scare me!

Yeah it's a little too chaotic from time to time but it develops together with the skills. but who am I telling this. Heard about your decal solution. Sometimes help comes when at least expected. It is the best help ever.

Hey there welcome. I try to get progress on a daily basis. But I can't promise it. Sometimes maybe not much and there is still a lot to do so it still takes some time till it is finished.

Finally my first bigger diorama. For a first I am absolutely happy with it. I know it is far from perfection but it was a really hard boot camp and I am confident in getting the next ones better. Practice practice practice. "You won't know if you don't go"! The scenery shows just about the tenth of a second before everyone recognizes the first shot was made and hell breaks loose. The scouts in the back are only a blink of an eye away from getting startled by the first shot they just heared. There was only some roughing up as you see with the guy in the middle on the ground before shooting got started.

Excellent job Ralf! What a terrifying and frightening scene, gives me goosebumps! And the corroded frame really gives it a feeling of horror! Looks like the opening scene of a zombie apocalypse movie! "Let's get the hell out of here!"

Album info
Despite my affinity to the second world war my first bigger dio will be in the zombie apocalypse scenario. You ask why? Well it was a special wish of my wife so here we go!
I'll continue showing the progress as soon as there is something to show. Right now I painted the riders and I started working on the helicopter. It just has to wait till my next order arrives so that I can build it as wrecked as I want to. So soon, maybe tomorrow, I start with the diorama base. It will be nothing too flashy just something desert like in southern Italy.
