Eduard Pfalz D.IIIa
![Album image #1 Album image #1](/albums/img/1/2/1/1037121-97778-55-720.jpg)
A woodgrain effect, the technique for which I borrowed from Nigel's Modeling Bench on YouTube:
1. Basing with Tamiya XF-57 Buff
2. Brushing on an oil paint/mix of your choice (here, burnt umber)
3. Very gently running over the paint with a Q-tip
Overall pleased with the effect. Looks much better in person; such is the price of using an iPhone camera.
Actually taken around June 14.

Floorboard (finally with attached seat), engine, and dash hooked up to the port side of the fuselage. Fuselage fit was incredibly snug and required lots of glue, putty, and sanding. But it turned out alright in the end.
First time using seatbelts of any kind (here, just decals). Not entirely pleased with the look, but it's nice to have some experience on it now.
Actually taken around July 20.

Masking off the ventral side in preparation for some black stripes.

An abomination of masking, but it worked. Vital areas swabbed/masked off and ready for painting.

Retouched the yellow on the nose, and now masking off the rest of the fuselage for the final green.

Will need a bit of retouching, but it could've gone a lot worse, so I'm pleased.

Same as before. Some fine-tuning is needed, but nothing disastrous happened, so I can't complain.

Oh yes, this Eduard kit is a very nice one (build the Dual Combo kit), as your work. Only a small remark: as far as I know the side walls was painted in a light grey green or blue grey. On the WNW page there are some nice color photos of later Pfalz aircrafts.

Thanks for the tip! Will try to incorporate that into any future builds. @ Rene: too true, hahaha

My sixth kit, and hopefully the first biplane with full rigging.
