Heinkel He 219
Drying time. .
The sprues are not numbered so finding the parts is a lot of fun
In order to use the eduard parts I have to remove/sand the details of the radio, side console and instrument panel.
This model is a natural tail sitter so after reading the comments of other modellers I start the model by looking for places to put weight. Inside the radio is a good place but we need to remove some plastic
Areas marked can take some weight to.
15 grams
About 35 gr here
8gr more. So almost 60 gr total. Thes weight is as close as possible to the front but I think its not enough yet. Anyway a lot less will be needed behind the cokpit or in the engine nacels.
Dry fit to check the balance. It will be big and needs more weight
Cockpit has been gloss coated . It will have a wash and some other things to give it a better look
Waiting for the seat belts
Seat belts are done. They take some time but I like the way they look.
Cockpit is joined to the right side of the body fuselage.I need more weight.
At this time I have about 180gr of lead in the body. Will it be enough?
Moving forward. Upper and lower halfs of the wing glued (big mistake) and big ejection marks to deal with.
Some sanding is needed but not to much putty.
Engine nacelles will need putty and sanding......a lot
Okay. My fault. Big mistake. I`ve some experience so I could had avoid this.
A lot of pressure was needed
Not to bad but could have been avoided.
This fit its definitively good. Congrats Revell.
I can`t ask for more
Well....something must be done here
That 1/72 old Matchbox Mustang model is not small.......
Not bad at all Revell
This one is big.Thats a fact.
The overall fit of this kit is quite good but I had to use plasticard here
Tail complete. No more significant weight will be aded in this area so I can say this one will not be a tail sitter.
Carefull mounting around here.
The clear part didn`t fit. A lot of reshaping was needed.
Until now the fitting is okay . I already tried the canopy parts and it looks there will be no major problem.
Three diferent canopies for diferent versions available so I`m using this one to cover the canopy instead of masking it with tape .
I know I`m old fashioned, old, whatever you like to call but I will love this tins forever. I will use them forever .Somehow they make me feel twelve years old.
I still don`t like this landing lights
Hope everything ok now around here
Wheell bays still to mask .
Moving forward. Already start with the painting. I was in a hurry to see if I war able to make the reverse motling. For this I`m using Hataka laquers and a Iwata HP BH 0.2mm.
About one hour later. Time to stop. Tomorow it`s another day.
This side is almost done. Upper and lower side. Left side still waiting. maybe this weekend.
Normaly in this scale I try to paint as much as I can. All major markings and symbols will be painted on instead of using decals.
I use Montex masks but ....... I tried them once again over laquer paint. Don`t ever do that.Montax masks can`t be used over laquer paint. They will stick quite hard. it`s very difficult to remove them and the glue stays on the model. It can be removed later with enamel thinner (tamiya X20 ) but it´s very difficult.
After some hard work it looks acceptable......
It happens.....more work
It`s a lot more better than decals ? I think it looks nice.
Painted markings are done. These are actually the decals. The right side needed a big restoration to look good so I decided for the decals on both sides. Letters C and L are painted so no problems with silvering here .
Decals applied .A coat of gloss varnish also applied
the exhausts in place. thy will be covered with the flame ......covers ? I don`t know the name but I know what they are for ??
Micro Sol working .
The «flame covers» being done......still not happy with the finish
Nose gesr on it`s way
Main wheels wainting for finishing touches
Wheel bay doors
Main landing gear struct leg. I wan´t to make the brake lines and after some tries I decided to make them with streched sprue.Even the ones shown on the Zoukei mura model are unreal so this ones can`t be worse....?
I`ve been lazy these last days. Anyway some work has been done.
Finished. Tank you guys for all the nice comments.

Hello Jorge, I will follow your work here with interest. I have a 1:32 Bf 110 nightfighter in my stash and hope to get some inspiration.
By the way: do you have trust that your nose wheel will hold such an amount of weight over time? Or are you going to reinforce it? I have a 72nd Me 262 and believe the leg is already creaping sideways after a few months.

AK84. Hi.I think I must answer you with a No. I don`t thrust 😁. But I didn`t think on how to solve that issue yet.

Have a search for Synthetic Ordnance Works replacement legs for it. They are fantastic and very strong.

Meanwhile I´ve got some big gaps between the engine nacelles and the lower side of the wing that could have been avoided. I`ve done this mistake a couple of times and still didn`t learn. All aircraft kits start the wing assembly by joining the upper and lower parts first. With twin engines (or more) like this that is most probably a mistake. I think that the nacelles should be glued first to the lower half part of the wing. Doing this the wing will easily contour the shape of the nacelle. Joining the two halfs first will give rigidity to the wing and some how change the shape needed to join the nacelle later. I hope I made my self understandable. Thankyou.

Jorge, I sugest you edit the settings of the album and use the last image as the Teaser, not the first - using the first does not show us the work you are progressing with...

Yes Ricardo. I don`t think I could do these lines with the Revell paint. Well , I can do it but it would take a lot of time. 😁

Spanjaard....Yes I have heard those warnings to. Yes I did use cyano in the small pieces. The large ones are glued with epoxy. I`m not worried with that. All my finished models will have the same destiny 😁

Really nice camo!
Haven't heard of that issue with cyano & lead ballast............tell me more 😖. All my recent builds have this mix inside 🤔

I read that in some posts here in SCM. for what i remember sometimes there is a reaction over very long periods of time (many years) that in some cases can make burst the seams of the model.... i hope that will not happen to you.
there was even a link to pictures of such a problem. but i can not remember what thread it was....

I also read those posts but I have no idea where it was. Anyway I use to repeat the same mistakes again and again so this is one more 😁

Did another search in the 'lectric brain and got a hit on an FSM thread which discussed the cyano-lead issue but was rather inconclusive. Sort of Yes/No/Maybe; it depends!! I've saved the discussion and will post it ........somewhere 😎

Excellent trabalho 👍 muito interessante Jorge.
Essa folha de alumínio não cria uma junta visível mesmo que não haja sobreposição?
