I will use only 2 amraams but I built all 4 of them because thats always a pain and they probably handy in the future.
This piece behind the seat is hard to fit because the location pins are not molded correctly. Use the cockpit tub the get it in the right position.
Light gray for the cockpit and seat.
Detail is alright but i'm going to add some extra detail.
Seatbelts are made form masking tape and some wire.
Looks a but more intressting.
i forgot to make the lower seatbelts.
Black wash added
One wire added for extra detail.
Finished cockpit
Extra detail behind the cockpit made form styrene sheet and wire.
Weathering with oil paint. burned sienna.
This part fit really bad so i made this styrene row to hide a big gap to make filling easyer. But this wasn't needed in the end.
This part is to thick so u need to sand it down until the gear bay looks decent. I didn't make photos of it unfortunately.
Gun metal to the fins of the missles
Gear bay added and intake finaly fitted.
SO this part really fitted bad but by sanding it down you can get it in a acceptible state.
Sanded the wheels down.
Extra hud detail made from some things I had lying around.
this green was a bit too much in the end. Well we learn by trying new things.
I still like the end product of the cockpit without any aftermarket parts.
missles are masked and painted white.
masked canopy after I tinted the glass orange with transparend orange paint form tamiya.
hand painted stripes on the missles
The fit of the clear parts is really bad. I Still had some gaps even after clean-up.
Masking of the canopy and air intake.
Pylons added. I installed the middle pylon the wrong way around. This hurt me in the end.
Steel paint as base layer for the jet nossle.
This is a very anoying problem i had with the kit
Same on this side.
black primer for the whole plane.
same for the ecm pod.
First try and some modulation with with paint.
It takes some time to get used to but it is hopefully worth it in the end.
Really happy with the underside. My first try and the control you get with a airbrush is amazing.
And tail
And the stabilisers on the bottom
End result.
Added gunship gray with a drop of black for the dark part of the camo.
Ecm pod only needs a wash now.
Nose is painted with dark gost grey mixed with black. It became to dark in the end but well i Keep it this way. the nose streaks would certainly disappear with brush painting. It nice to retain those details with a airbrush.
assembly of the gear doors. The fit is decent on these in the open position.
Ready for decals.
Decals added. They look and applyed well. Really liked the result. Although I hope I can clean de residu of the decal solution.
Removed the outer pylons for these steps.
Gloss added to the landing gear doors and a grey wash added
Finished ecm pod
Gloss coat to protect de decals
These get the same treatment as the doors.
Decided that the gear bays are to low in detail. So I add some wire and more things later.
Looking a lot less boring now. These modifictaions are only inspired by the real plane.
Finished result.
Dark grey/brown wash oil wash made form lamp black an burned umber.
Landing gear legs also get some modifications
end result.
Little bit of chipping for more visual intresst.
Heavy mistake with the use of flat base instead of flat clear tamiya. It was to late to reverse the time.
I used some more chipping and oil paint too weather the plane to make it look less bad. The end result isn't too bad.
Landing gear are hard to assemble but the look reasenably good.
Made new attenas form stretched sprue to replace the ones I lost during construction.
The belly of the plane is actually not ruined so i'm happy with that.
The canopy tint really looks nice imo. I was not sure if i could make such a thing.
Not to bad in the end.
It got a good place on the shelf as a pioneer.

Maciej Bellos Oh, that's the old Italeri kit. Quite the effort! Well done, she looks pretty good!
Vincent I made a big mistake with my flat coat in the end so i had to weather the aircraft more then i would have liked. But i managed in the end. Still not perfect But that is what you get when you try the airbrush for the first time. I still hope you guys enjoyed this build.

Maciej Bellos Great job on a rather basic kit. Well done! I'll copy the additions behind the seat for my Block 10 machine.

Vincent Thank you Djordje, Maciej and Jv. Good luck with your block 10 f-16 Maciej I hope my build can help. Nice to see you like al the build pictures Jv. I wanted to wait with the airbrush until I got some exprience with most modeling Challenges. I'm very happy I got one. Making schemes with a airbrush is so much fun.

Alexander While it certainly looks a bit too weathered in some areas, it looks great nonetheless! 👍 I also like the tailart with the eagle.
If this is your first airbrush kit, I am looking forward for your future models!

Vincent Thanks Alexander. The mistake was really bad so i had to cover it in some way. I'm still reasonably happy with the result. This was my first try indeed with the airbrush so making mistakes is part of the game.

Chan Li Haha yeah Vincent, you did it better than me for the first airbrushing.
Hmm, I think for F-16 in 1/48 scale Tamiya is the best kit. Maybe you can try it some day down the road.

Vincent Well I need some more practise before I'm buying such a expensive kit. But seeing the result of the tamiya f-16 builds on this site make it hard not the buy it right away.
My first try with a airbrush. I used tamiya and gunze paints. I made a big mistake with my flat coat in the end so i had to weather the aircraft more then i would have liked. But i managed in the end. Still not perfect But that is what you get when you try the airbrush for the first time. This kit on the other hand is also not perfect. Had some porblems in multiple stages during the build but i still like the end result for such a old kit.
Modification:
- Added seatbelts
- Details in the cockpit.
- Scratch build hud detail.
- Scratch build detail behind the seat.
- Landing ger wires added.
- Detail in the landing bays.
Mistakes:
- used the wrong flat coat so i had to make the palne very weathered.
- Sanded to much of the rear wheels away so it sits to low on the back.
- I mounted the centre pylon the wrong way around so i can't fit the ecm pod in the end because it blocks the front landing gear.
