Wings are on for test fit, reasonably happy so time to build the engines. I've used Tamiya RAF Dark Green for the top side but it looks a little dark to me……… engines look good tho, nice detail 👍

I wanted to do something different to the Revell moulding for the optional engine reveal, so I've cut the top off the engine cover as well as the pre-cut side panel. I'll do the other side of the cover the same, that way when they are both off I can see the whole of the engine.
I'll add a couple of engine frame spars made from stretched sprue to give some ore detail.
I also need to tidy this engine up a bit a repaint the block & exhaust manifold.
Quite pleased with the panel cut though, I think it'll look pretty good 👍

Had real issues fitting the special loading bay cover for the spinning bomb……. it was just too long, had to shave material off the rear section to get it to fit.
Started filling & sanding any fuselage gaps & laying down thin coats of colour, quite pleased with the result.

Finished the landing gear after much hassle…….. the skinny little frames were snapped on the sprue, took loads of trial fitting, more glue, bit of artistic license thrown in haha……. looks reasonable tho I think 👍

Just finished the modified engine covers for one of the inboard engines.
I wanted to change the factory exposed engine detail & make it more appealing……. do you think I've achieved it? You can be brutally honest I won't mind 😄

Thanks mates! I thought it looked a bit more interesting that's all……..might even have an engine out diorama yet.
Got the nose glazing on today, some more filler will be needed for the hoop that secures the moving gun placement though.

Getting a bit closer, cockpit glazing painted Tamiya Dark Earth Matt, I never use masks but it looks pretty good.
The tail wheel carrier was missing from the sprue so I scratched one up from a plastic coated paperclip, painted it matt black & finessed it (bent it) once it was in place. Came out ok actually, a good save!

Getting a bit closer to the finishing line now, happy with the mods, canopy looks good (all by hand…… no masks) & ready for decals & clear coats.
One question…….. do the roof lights need colour up to the circle in the middle? Or are they left as is? I've seen em done both ways & the Revell instructions aren't clear.

Nice work on that canopy, Munky mate. I still have mine to finish and put on. I did the Airfix version, with the bomb trolley and bomb. Getting the fitment for the wings, through the fuselage, was a right ball and bat! And the rear wheel, just looks like they forgot about it and pulled something out of the spares box, at the end? Yours looks much better mate

Old man was ex RAF. The Lanc was his favourite. And growing up in the shadows of AVRO Chadderton, it was destined to be built by me too, mate. I now live a flick of the foreskin away, from what used to be RAF Woodford. Sadly a housing development now, but I remember the runway and buildings, pretty good. If you ever get a minute, Google Bruntingthorpe Air Museum. Another cool place that I've hung out at. My plane days are over now, but some things just don't leave you 😉

Just laid down a couple coats of semi gloss, letting if harden off a bit before some mild weathering. Looks good tho, I luv the sheen of semi gloss over matt camo, looks ace 👍
Anyone gimme tips on taking better pix? I'm using an iPhone 11 & they are crap!

Looking good Munky mate!
When I was down there, they had the Guppy opening up. Pretty impressive, I must say. My brother lives close by and someone ended up with a French fighter jet? Anyway, he got some hydraulic oil from somewhere and had it doing a few things. Needless to say, the Americans found out, and ordered him to return it to the condition that it was in, or they'd dispose of it? Something that involved a firing range, I believe? I did see the jet though, prior to that conversation and it was pretty cool. I was actually surprised how small it was? Thankfully, the gun had been removed from the hole in the nose 🙂

Boz, that Guppy was opened once on a scorching summer day & the nose wouldn't shut afterwards, took days to do it!
It's a great place, Lightning's were incredible……. shame it's closed.
Thanks Roland! I'm awful at pix, I don't understand any of it!
I'm calling it done for now, time to start on a base dio with maintenance crew & some weathering.

Looking forward to seeing your Dio mate. I can't imagine how big it's going to be, but I hope you have somewhere to display it? That Lanc isn't a small plane! She looks awesome though mate, and I have to admire your persistence with that canopy. It's not an easy job, painting that bugger. 100% for quality mate 👍

Cheers lads! The dio will be some RAF maintenance personnel carrying out an emergency engine swap in the yard.

I can't help but feel sorry for you, painting those little guys. I attempted it, about 8yrs ago, and was pretty chuffed with my efforts, until I got the magnifying glass out. Then they looked like a seagull had dropped last night's Chinese on them, from 50 feet! At that point, I realised that my skills were still good, but my nerves were like a crapping dog, in the park! I have some 1/25 figures to do, but I'm taking my time with them, and they're being done under the magnifier. Oh to be young again!

Lord Boz. I'd never be brave enough to look at ANY of my work under a magnifying glass. 😂😂
