Bordurian Westland Lysander
Printed Bordurian Roundels )with a red outer ring to show up against the black overall colour)
Injector marks on inside filled or sanded (both are needed!) and some areas thinned
Interior put together and glued to one side
Fuselage glued together
Vac-form canopy sections masked before separating as it seemed easier
Canopy sections sprayed interior green on the outside to make it easier to see where to cut
Landing gear pieces - I have thinned the inside of the spats (one half of each side is very thick) and added a sanded-down strut (which is designed for use on the version with opened-up spats)
Landing gear pieces painted
Landing gear glued together, filled and sanded
The propeller comes as a resin hub and injection molded blades and spinner. I drilled 0.4mm holes in all and pinned the blades with steel wire. Here the blades are being glued in place using a Kora jig
Finished propeller
Resin engine cleaned, repaired and painted and cowling glued together. Interior and front of cowling have also been painted
Front and back sections of canopy attached. Found the moulded-on wing mounts were set too low, so I glued on replacements set higher and cut off the originals
Top section of canopy attached. Some of the original masking didn't survive and will be replaced.
Landing gear lights include a resin light and a vac-formed cover. The cover had to be roughly shaped, glued in place and then heavily sanded to shape and polished (luckily its quite thick). Here the left shows the components and the right is complete
Main landing gear complete and attached.
Canopy repairs completed and re-masked. Engine and cowling attached and tail surfaces attached. Starting to look like a Lysander
And finally wings attached - some clean-up needed on the strut joins to the wings and undercarriage but after that, and a bit more masking, it will be on to paint
A coat of gloss black has been sprayed on, touch-ups done where needed, Clearfix windows added at the back and final bits added. Ready for decals tomorro
Decals applied - probably could have made the red circles a bit broader but I'm reasonably happy with them

Thanks Bas - they're fun things to build as you don't have to be super accurate (they can sometimes change from panel to panel in the books) and some of them you see so little of that you can be as creative as you want!

Watching, not a big Tintin fan, but I have the very same kit in my stash and wonder how bad it could be 😄
Very useful vacu canopy hints, thx

Thanks Matthew. Lukasz - its a short-run kit, but certainly not the best version of those. I had to sand down the inside of trailing edges of the wings before gluing the halves together to make them look decent. I also had to go around every injection moulded piece looking for extra areas of plastic that needed to be trimmed off (the two windows at the rear of the fuselage were bad - one was completely closed over and had to be drilled out and then filed to shape.) and lots of flash as well, especially on the cockpit interior parts. However the detail is quite good and I'm hoping it will turn out OK.

While Tintin and crew are at the Syldavian moon launch facility it is overflown by an unknown plane (presumably Bordurian) that looks a lot like a Westaland Lysander. I've chosen to build the Pavla Lysander Mk.II kit, largely out of the box, except for a replacement Lewis gun from the spares box (as the kit item is pretty crude) and a Yahu instrument panel. The plane is only shown in silhouette in the book so I'll paint it black as a night infiltration/spy plane with home-made Bordurian markings
