Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI
While I wait on my custom brakes and wheels to arrive, I figured I'd get a start on the interior.
This is SMS red sprayed over black with the intention of creating a dark suade look. The black is my own mix of Tamiya LP semi gloss black and flat black (10:3) mixed with Mr Levelling Thinners.
Flocking done.
Dashboard done.
Interior done.
My wheels have arrived! These are 18" Advan RG4 wheels by Hobby Design. A little bit of putty work was needed, but overall they are decent. Male adapters to make them available with the Tamiya kit.
My brake discs and callipers have also arrived! This is Brembo Brake Set S1.
Some adjustments needed to fit the new wheels.
Simples!
Brake discs and callipers painted in SMS Chrome.
Callipers also painted in SMS
Callipers painted in Tamiya Clear Red over SMS Chrome. Something a little different from the plain red.
Tamiya Clear Green over SMS Blue/Green Flip (over black base)
Tamiya Clear Blue over SMS Blue/Green Flip (over white base)
Brake discs sat way too close as is so bevelled then down a little. Gotta be careful though, some patch work was needed on the first one.
New rods made from 2mm styrene.
Hobby Design 18" Z2 tyres.
SMS Clear Brown over SMS Super Silver.
Oooops.... ?
Ta da! Luckily I has some spare Aoshima Evo wheels to fall back on. This is SMS clear brown over the kit chrome.
En
Custom decals ordered online from My Custom Hot Wheels.
Completed!
Headlights airbrushed with Tamiya Clear Yellow.
Rear lights hand painted with red and orange Sharpies.
Custom number plate from My Custom Hot Wheels.
Love how my custom exhaust came out! Heat stains were done with the Tamiya Weathering Kit D.
Kit mesh replaced with real metal mesh. Was difficult to cut and place. A lot of glue was needed to hold it in place.
PE Mitsubishi badge left over from the Evo X kit. Chose to leave the front number plate off as it just looked odd.
Roof was wet sanded after 2k with 3600, 4000, 6000, 8000, then polished with Tamiya compounds.

Your standard level of work is already surpassing many an experienced modeller's peak.

Outstanding work from a young man here
I am sure you will go a long way more
And it will always be a pleasure to see

Thanks Stéphane. The flocking is Ranger Embossing Powder. It comes in a variety of colours. This one is gunmetal. I use PVA glue to adhere it to the model.

Gloss black and gloss all white are the two colours hardest to get right. You nailed them both.
I love the yellow headlights, the rims look great, and you stole my mesh ideas!
