Started this, my first model with an abundance of resin and PE. The cockpit parts are mainly done, all resin and PE. Painted mainly with Ammo Mig anticorrosione verde. 🙂
Thanks for your interest and likes Villiers DV, Andrew B & Carlos M. Welcome mates! 👍

Very nice start, looking forward to seeing the finished kit. So many paint schemes to choose from, assuming you already have one in mind. It's a nice kit, don't remember any issues building it, though the vacuum formed canopy did make me a little nervous at first, but it ended up fitting perfect.

Fuselage put together, strange to do with no fixing pegs/holes! A piece of resin added to top of fuselage. It had to be sanded quite a bit and then filler used to cover up the gaps. Tail completed after a lot of sanding and filling. Wings together with resin additions for the wheel wells, 2 for each side, fit wasn't too bad. 🙂
Thank you Dean & Mike for your kind and encouraging comments. 👍

The wings did not fit at all. I had to sand all fitment areas in order to fit them in. Primer then added. 🙂

Looking great Guy! I love those Italian schemes. With the camo a success, should be a breeze from here to the end and will look spectacular. 🙂

Lovely work, Guy. For a second I thought this was 1/48 scale. Beautiful work on the cockpit. Out of curiosity, how are you finding the MiG paints in terms of airbrushing?

Yellow added to the nose. I used Vallejo RLM04 for this. 🙂
Many thanks for your kind comments Moreno, Bernd, Neil & Stephen. 👍
@Stephen, The Ammo Mig paints are good, use them at a lower pressure than paints such as Vallejo as they seem to be thinner. 🙂
Many thanks for your likes and interest Jakub, Sukhoi 242, Neil P, Stephen L, Jan Z & 1 mate. 👍

The Re.2000 Serie 1 is now declared completed. It has been an education to model with resin, PE and a polythene canopy to say the least. Any errors are down to me. 🙂
Only five Serie Is served in the Regia Aeronautica, including the prototype. They were organized into the Sezione Sperimentale Reggiane inside the 74a Squadriglia in Sicily. Later it was renamed 377a Squadriglia Autonoma Caccia Terrestre.
The few Re.2000 were used over Mediterranean Sea as escort and attack aircraft, sometimes with Macchi 200/202s and FIAT CR 25 two-engine fighters. 377a was based in Sicily, and fought in Malta and Pantelleria, mainly in an escort role and protecting Axis ships almost until Tunisia (with a range up to 300–350 km), well beyond the other RA single seat-fighters; sometimes it was used to attack Malta with bomblets (spezzoni) and machine guns, typically at dawn. It reported a single 'kill' against a Bristol Blenheim. Overall, their service was not remarkable. Although the Reggiane had a long range, it was disliked and even feared by ground crew and pilots, for its difficult maintenance and unpredictable engine reliability and handling. The last Re.2000 was sent back to the factory in September 1942.
Thanks for your very kind comment Dean, much appreciated! 👍

Have to say what a beautifully finished model. The colours came together really well in the end. I find the Reggiane Re.2000 has a real "P-35 feel" to it.

You are correct Moreno. The resemblance is uncanny. And of course it lead to the absolutely beautiful Re.2005, one of my all time favourite Italian aircraft, along with the Macchi 202.

One final comment Guy. Looking at your early builds from 2018 to now, you have made incredible progress. The quality of your airbrushing now is very subtle, and getting better with each project. As we like to say in Australia, you done good! 🙂

Great build and paint job on the camo.👍🏻
I have also a Re.2000 in line to be built but i'm hesitating a little due to the camo paint work. Do you have any good tips & tricks in this area?

Stormo is a great site devoted to Regia Aeronautica. I used the photo tips from one of the gallery projects for the Re.2000. I admit I was apprehensive before building but following the tips (and carefully airbrushing on low pressure!) it wasn't too bad at all. 🙂
If it is the special hobby version you have, the hardest bit was cutting out and then attaching the cockpit.

Yes, it's a Special Hobby kit. Thanks for the heads-up on the cockpit part.
Any other challenges you experienced with the kit?

Be careful with cutting the resin parts, they can be quite brittle and break. Apart from that, not too bad a kit. 👍
