Lovely job as always Andrea. Great to see an unusual scheme so accurately executed. Nice to see the reference pics as well. A challenge in 1/48. Masterful in 1/72!

Trez, could you be more specific about the starboard wheel issue? I used Barracudacast wheels and doors for this model because they look better but didn't check dimensions

Hi Trez, I think it is just in that photo, if you look at the other it is ok (at least so it seems to me 😉 ) Maybe it is due to the soft surface were I placed the model to have the photos taken.
...and, yes, I am not too picky about small inaccuracy, I am more concerned about realism...
To be honest though, I wasn't aware of the dimensional issue you mentioned, I will check the next time, thanks for pointing it out!
@ Dave: thank you very much!

Album info

This is my rendition from Swiatlon's profile in Luftwaffe Gallery Special Album no. 4, dedicated to men and machine of JG. 5: the only picture show a nearly pristine A-2/A-3 airframe, maybe recently repainted, in July 1942 in Herdla or Stavanger-Sola.
The picture show the port side only, so all the rest of the camouflage is conjectural but based on other aircrafts of the same JG.
Build was tipically Tamiya, parts just clicks together without any gap or misalignment: I decided to use some aftermarket parts, like Barracudacast wheels and UC covers and Quickboost gun barrels (used only the wing barrels) and exhausts, quite tricky to fit.
I sawn away kit's plastic part to use Quickboost rudder, only to realize afterwards that the resin piece is too short... so back to the original one with som plastic profile added to compensate for what I had sawn, sic...
I am experimenting with a way to give decal seatbelts some 3D shape: I will have some more tests to do before posting it but at the moment they look better than plain one.
Insignia decals came from the spare box, some been very old, the number 9 from Kitsworld sheet and even if I know it is not the exact shape I can live with it.
Painting is done with Gunze acrylics, sprayed freehand trying to replicate the port side in the picture, and freestyle for all of the other surfaces!
A quick and highly enjoiable build, this is the second from a batch build of 5 different Luftwaffe models and I hope you will like it as I do!
Thanks for watching
Ciao
Andrea
