F-4G WIP
Not much going on yet, just testing some faded colors. This tank has primarily AK Real Colors paints on it for a slightly vivid yet faded color.
The belly tank was done in primarily MRP paints. To my eye these are just a tad less vivid.
As I’m planning on using the AK Real Colors on the bird itself, I squirted some RC027 in random patterns on the ‘Splitter Plate’ which isn’t called Splitter Plate
On the backside too as that isn’t accessible once glued on the fuselage
Same for the intake itself.

Thanks for chiming in! @ Spanjaard; this is going to be an OOB as possible build. I want to see how the kit builds as a prototype for a future F-4F and as a weathering canvas. @ Mark; I'll keep you updated on the actual build! 👍🏼

Checking in here too - very cool to see a build start with the tank - and such a lovely job too 👍 🙂
Quite a fight in the 48-scale Phantom corner, isn´t it? Zoukei Mura (love the japanese paint-scheme...), Tamiya and Meng - which one to go for?
Very much looking forward to the "adding a plane to the tank" phase of the build... 😉

Yes Slavo quite the fight. Where it for me to buy a Phantom now, I would go for the Meng, since it can be built as a Hellenic Air Force. Should Tamiya get a European Recce one, it would then be my cup of (japanese) tea.
The tank is supeb, waiting for the rest of the plane to chip in!

Hi guys! Sorry for my absence, hiking and modeling don't go along very well. 😉 Thanks for the comments and yes, with separate tanks I can get an idea about what paints and degree of weathering to use. I chose this Meng F-4G because out of the box it builds into an awesome Spook. For my pan ultimate F-4F I'm still using the ZM kit, but that has to do with the aftermarket stuff I want to use. This build will be a painting canvas and a means to discover the Meng qualities.

Great job Patrick, I am very curious how this F-4 from MENG is, I think the Hornet that I am building also from MENG is a gem!

Thanks Jos and good to have you back behind your workbench again. I've read you've been away for a while for work? I know I'm about to also sometimes this year. One of the perks of our jobs, I guess. 😉
So far the Meng kit doesn't disappoint! Maybe not as refined as the ZM kit, but definitely more buildable! I really enjoy this kit! After tomorrow I'll be back at my bench too and will post some more pictures for sure.
