After the dryfit of the bodyparts it's time to build the airplane together, or at least the main parts. The tails will be built separately. Next the cockpit was masked and airbrushed in matt black.
Next this black area was masked as well and the plane was painted in the main grey color. After drying I put a clearcoat over the whole thing. Now all I have to do is let it dry after which I can start to color the panel lines and fix the decals.

Yes, always. But not the complete surfaces of course, that would be to expensive. I use it to mask the borders, and the rest is filled with Maskol or Tamiya masking tape. Works perfect for racecars, so why not for airplanes?

It looks very interesting to me and my hands still stick at tamiyatape🙂. Do you lay it on the clearparts and cut it out? Or do you cut it and attach it to the masking areas? Its really an interesting option to mask smaller areas!

I lay it to the masking area and then cut away whatever I don't need with a scalpel.
