This was a "What-if" project that asks "What if the F-14 wasn't built and the Navy had to modify an F-15 as their new Fleet defender?" Modifications include the nose gear and arrestor hook from an F/A-18 E and the double chin pod from an F-14D.
Done in the Hi-Vis Jolly Rogers scheme with a full load of 6 AIM-54s and 4 AIM-9s.

Nice job! You may not realize just how close the F-15 came to being Navalized!

When the early Tomcats were having problems there was a proposal to develop a carrier version of the F-15. Long story short it was found that a more extensive redesign would be required as simple carrier modifications would severely compromise the F-15's winning qualities. The F-14's issues were addressed with new engines so the project went away.

Nice look at what might have been.

What I'd really like to see is a kit of the cancelled carrier version of the F-22 with swing wings
