Second kit to get closer to the model builders world again. This kit is really no highlight. Low quality everywhere... So perfect for me to practice a little bit. I dont want to build a 100% accurate sabre or spend money for some aftermarket products, but the result should be better than the last kit. Trying to improve painting, first time wethering and may be a little bit of scratch building. I will see...

Hmm, what to say about this kit. It is in fact neither a F-100C nor a F-100D...
The wings belong more to the D Version. That is what I noticed at the first look.
To get a correct F-100 therefor a lot of changes have to be done. But to be honest, this kit isn't worth the effort, money or time. It would be better to use the kit from Trumpeter.
The cockpit of the pm model has no details, the decals are in such a low quality, that you know they will tear in pieces. The raised engravings are wrong and will disappear by the lightes grinding...
Some pictures will follow...
But hey, this kit is just for practicing. So I will concentrade on painting.
So this should be a quickly built out of the box. Please don't curse me therfor...

I think we should start rating kits from 1 to 10! This sounds like a 1!!! 🙁

It is just a kit that can be easily built. If you don't mind that it is not 100% correct and if you dont need every detail it is ok. Then you can built this kit very quickly. For beginners not so bad. The decals I've got are more than 20 years old. Perhabs the quality was much better some years ago. But when I look at my stash, I think this kit is the poorest one.

I think your best option is to get one of the the Italeri (ex-ESCI) F-100 kits. It's the most accurate kit out there at the moment. Very nicely engraved panel lines, and sharp molding of details. The Trumpeter has some serious issues, starting with the intake profile, which is not correct being too flat on the bottom.
Trumpeter kits are always well moulded, it's too bad that they didn't get the shape right at the same time. Their BAC Lightning kits are atrocities.

Yes Bill, I think so too. The Italeri kit looks very nice.
However, I will build this pm model kit jusr for practicing. I'm still an amateur. Here I can't break anything.

I like the concept of practicing on old kits, too. I picked the Frog Ta152 from my shelf with the Dragon and Aoshima kits sitting right next to it 😄
Likewise, I tackle an Airfix Fw190D-9 before I am going to lay waste on the Tamiya kit 😄

I understood that you were going to use this PM model for practice. That is a great idea. I may have misunderstood you on another point, that you would get a Trumpeter F-100 after you had practiced. Once you're ready to do a "real" model, the Italeri is a better choice. But it seems like we're all in agreement on that, so let's start practicing! Let us know how we can help!
