DISASTER! Well, the usual kind you get with model kits. My sweet, sweet custom decals For the USS Defiant did not mix well with the clear coat ! They dissolved leaving a sticky residue!

This is a nice idea. A guy at the Winconsin regionals contest had a cut away of an aircraft carrier. You might be able to do something similar for a portion of the ship. The scale will be a challenge.
